Pp, (16), 95; (1) 118, [2 booklist].  Contemporary full calf, neatly rebacked.  Robinson (d 1719) graduated from Cambridge in 1668 and was appointed rector of Ousby, Cumberland in 1672. He established a mining enterprise in 1693 near Keswick with the intention of mining copper and silver. By 1703, the enterprise failed and because of considerable debts, Robinson had to take refuge in London. The book is divided into two parts. The first describes the geology and mineralogy of Westmorland and Cumberland and the second the author's theory of the earth. A very good copy with the two works in one volume, rarely found outside institutional libraries.
