Goivanni Maria  Clericato (Chieracto; 1633-1717) was a canon lawyer, born and died in Padua. He was made Vicar General for the Diocese of Padua, and was considered one of the ablest men of his time in matters of ecclesiastical jurisprudence, writing many works on canon and civil law. First edition of this work (Ecclesiastical Questions) was published in 1702.  A beautifully bound volume of this seminal work.
