Raveneau de Lussan's Voyage to South Seas

Author(s): Raveneau de Lussan

World History

A translation of de Lussan's Journal of a Voyage into the South Seas in 1684 and the following years with the Filibusters.  De lussan (b1663) had a career in piracy and buccaneering in the Spanish Main, West indies and the South Seas from1684 onwards. Filibusters were irregular soldiers engaging in privateering and piracy, and the journal engagingly recounts de Lussan's adventures over 3 years with French filibusters on the Pacific coast of the Americas, plundering Spanish possessions.

frontispiece, 8 plates of facsimiles. Original cloth with dust jacket. Includes an Introduction by Wilbur, and the Barnes & Noble dust jacket. The original journal was first published in French in 1689, going through several editions and this is the first English translation.
